Swirls BakeShop

Swirls Bakeshop is an all-american cupcakery located in the sorta-difficult-to-find Rodyk Street. My friends have been talking about their cupcakes for quite some time, so my team and I hunted for the shop amidst the scorching heat to find out whether it is worth all the hype for ourselves.

The bakeshop is located at Rodyk Street, and we must admit, it was NOT easy to find. At all.
When we got there, it was about 4 in the afternoon and we were t i r e d.
Their shelves were being stocked as we arrived, so yay to freshly baked cupcakes.

We ordered 3 flavours; Red Velvet, Milk Chocolate and Nutella.

The Red Velvet (S$3.95) was disappointing. I am very avid fan of anything red velvet, so I expected so much more that well... this. The cupcake was lacking that 'oomph' factor; no velvety chocolatey taste whatsoever. The icing was alright, thick (just the way I like it), and sweet. The cream cheese taste was also there.

Milk Chocolate (S$4.10) was okay. Their chocolate cupcake was alright, I was actually glad that there was more chocolatey taste than the Red Velvet one, The vanilla buttercream was a tad bit too sweet for my team, but I thought it was okay. However, if you like having stuff like m&ms interrupting your devouring cupcake-experience, I think you would love this. I don't, so I was not a very big fan of the m&ms on top.

Out of all the three cupcakes, I actually found Nutella (S$4.10) the best. And NO, it is not only because it has Nutella in it. The cupcake was moist and chocolatey, I am assuming they used the same chocolate cupcakes as the Milk Chocolate one, so yeah, it was good. The hazelnut buttercream was smooth and thick, and you can taste the hazelnut taste at the tip of your tongue. Props to Swirls for not being stingy on the Nutella.

Considering the fact that we had to sweat our bums off just for these, frankly; they are not that worth it. I did not think it was worth all the google-mapsing, walking, and sweating. I don't know what made them so hyped up, but I guess it's a good start for their business. I would only recommend having these if you have absolutely nothing to do, and happen to be around the area. And also if you're need for a quick cupcake-fix.

Love,

Women and our love for chocolate.

I can't think of any one of my friends who are not fond with chocolate. Milky, dark, or white; chocolate is and will remain as a piece of heaven that is easily within reach.

Nowadays, chocolate comes in many different forms and flavours. Lindt chocolates for example, has chocolates readily available in supermarkets, with flavours ranging from 99% cocoa, to salted caramel.

Believe it or not, no matter what flavour you boys get for your girlies, I can assure you that they will love it. But will love you even more.
